For this expansive environment, we had to straddle between the continuity of two sequences, one of which was from another vendor working in parallel.
We started off in world machine to generate some hero mountains to match the rest of the sequence. A few custom trees were made using Speedtree to match the other vendors plants and then the whole environment was assembled with shaders in Terragen. A spherical environment was then rendered and converted into a cubic-map where we could point the camera in any direction. This gave us individual undistorted tiles where we finally employed traditional matte painting techniques for further enhancement.
